Centenary House breakfast moving

Gippsland Rotary Centenary House’s annual breakfast is on the move.

After five very successful years at Eastwood Retirement Village, this event now moves to St Johns Church Hall, Francis Street, Bairnsdale.

Breakfast will be held on Wednesday morning, April 10, from 7am until 10am.

Centenary House is a community-owned facility that provides safe, supportive and affordable accommodation to patients / families of the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre at the Latrobe Regional Hospital.

Centenary House is situated on Valley Drive, Traralgon, on the Northern Boundary of the Latrobe Regional Hospital.

The house is within easy walking distance of the hospital and the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre.

The house contains motel style guest rooms with full communal facilities including kitchens, dining rooms, lounges, laundries as well as outdoor relaxing areas.

Patients using the facility are subsidised during their stay making the cost of accommodation affordable for everyone. Some 60 per cent of users come from east of Stratford.

Centenary House is undergoing extensive additions of some 13 more rooms at the moment and this will bring the total number of units move to 30 available.

Since the opening in 2006, Centenary House has been fully booked on many occasions and these extensions are very much in need. This is the last of the building program as all the available land is now developed.

This facility is run by a strong committee and a paid staff of one full-time and one part-time employee.

It is generously supported by the local community as volunteers are needed for the day-to-day operation of the house.

Centenary House runs a negative budget to keep costs down and relies on continued support from the public.

Breakfast organisers look forward to the great support for the breakfast that it has received in the past.

There will be a wide selection of choices to tempt the palette.

If you would like to make a donation towards the cost of running the breakfast, please contact Leigh Venables.
