On Friday, February 25, Minister for Agriculture, Jaclyn Symes, announced a ʻcash injectionʼ of up to $3500 would be available to drought-affected farmers in East Gippsland and Wellington shires, but only now, almost a month later, are those funds available.

Persistent rain across East Gippsland has done little to slow down the Dargo bushfire.
Dargo had recorded around 8-10 millimetres of rain at the time of going to press on Tuesday which was unlikely to impact too much on the fires.
